Eureka Springs

We took a very last minute trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas over Jon's break. Jon called me from clinic and asked if we wanted to take a vacation. He said we needed a break. (Yes, even though he was on break from school he still had to see patients at the clinic.) So we decided where to go, booked a cabin, packed, loaded the car and got out of town in a total of about 5 hours. We drove through the night so the kids would be sleeping and less fussy. It took us about 7 hours to get there in the rain but we made it around 3am and was able to get a little rest. We stayed 4 days and had a great time. Here we are in front of the sign where we stayed. We went to Onyx Cave. It is a small cave where you get a head set that tells you about the formations and the history of the cave and you walk at your own pace. It was neet and the kids enjoyed it as well. Here is a picture of Jon and Joshua in the cave.

Here is Joslyn and I. I am sporting the wonderful headphones around my neck!

We went to a big cat refuge. We took a tour of the habitats and got to watch them feed the cats. When it bacame feeding time the cats began to roar which was really cool! The kids both enjoyed it and Joslyn even "roars/growls" now!

We went to the Cresent hotel and used their observation deck. It was really pretty. You could look out over the mountians and just see forever.

It rained the entire time we were there. We spent most of our time in the cabin, just relaxing. We went for a few walks in the rain and took a senic drive. It is a beautiful town and we enjoyed our stay. I took a few pictures of the mountians as we headed home. Since we drove in at night we missed a lot of the view. But on the way home we were able to enjoy it. We drove home during the day and the kids did a great job. I was really impressed! Here is a picture of the rain and fog on the mountian side. So beautiful!
